Words from the Heart

I know that this online class has been a challenge for some of us and we have also learn alot from this class as well. I have enjoyed reading my colleagues different of opinions and their agreements. We should have grown from the wealth of knowledge that we a received from this class and the collaboration that we have share with each other. I know some of us will cross path in other class and I hope we can experience each other ideas and help each other during that class as well. I feel we should have communicate with each other more not just during assignment because we share a passion that most people don't understand and we could have became friends through that experience. I hope you guys be very successful as time goes on and you great success at whatever you plan to accomplish in life.

Code of Ethics

Ideals

I 1.1- To be familiar with the knowledge base of early childhood care and education and to stay informed through continuing education and training. This ideal is significant because in order to help young children to grow, we need to attend the all current workshop, training and research information that will help the young children. When we stay on top of what young children need, then we can do our jobs better.

I 1.3- To recognize and respect the unique qualities, abilities, and potential of each child. This ideal is significant because every child is different and we have to learn to enbrace that in every child and learn how to bring forth each of their talents, so they can make an impact on this world because of us, the people who help them bring out the best of themselves.

I 1.5- To create and maintain safe and healthly settings that foster children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development and that respect their dignity and their contributions. This ideal is significant because every needs to feel safe and be healthy. When children can feel comfortable in their own skin they will do better in school and function better as a whole. When they eat right, they will feel good about themselves and have more energy to accomplish the things that are important in life and to be able to function better with their education.

Words of Inspiration and Motivation by Two Significant Contributors

When I fight about what is going on in the neighborhood, or when I fight about what is happening to other people's children, I'm doing that because I want to leave a community and a world that is better than the one I found.
                                                                                                             Marian Wright-Edelman

When Jesus Christ asked little children to come to him, he didn't say only rich children, or White children, or children with two-parent families, or children who didn't have a mental or physical handicap. He said, "Let all children come unto me."
                                                                                                              Marian Wright-Edelman

The future is not an inheritance, it is an opportunity and an obligation.
                                                                                                                           Bill Clinton

When we give what we can and give it with joy, we don't just renew the American tradition of giving, we also renew ourselves.

    Persona Childhood Web

Hazel(mom): She has and still is a great influence in my life. My mom is a single mother of four kids and she didn't have any help from our fathers. She is an example of great strength even when life seems impossible to make it you can still keep going. She had two of us in college, got laid off from her job and still had to small children at home. My mom decided that she wasn't going to let that stand in her way. She decided to go back to school and with no job went back to school and got a four year degree. I look back now and I am amaze by her strength and I have always tried to model that strength throughout my life by never giving up even when times get hard. I just keep moving forward.

Levon(aunt): My aunt display toughest and she never let anyone make her feel inferior them. She is always letting people know that no matter who you are she is just as important. She always stands her ground. I practice that but I had to learn over the years that at some point you have to know what battles to stand your ground on and which one to just let go. When it counts I shout like a roaring lion but when it is not worth it, I am as humble as a kitten.

James(great grandfather): He lived to be ninety-five years old and until the day he died, he still showed humility for other people. He always tried to help people even though he would be in need sometimes himself, if someone needed something he would give it to them. I am like that too because I feel that helping people is what you are suppose to do. I always put myself last when it comes to someone in need because I am going to be alright. It feels so good to help people but sometimes it can get to be a bit much because people sometimes takes you for granted but I just tell God about it and continue to do what I know is right.

When I speak of these people that had an impact on life as a child as well as now I can say they taught me well. I am a better person for it because if I hadn't seen these example in my life  I wouldn't have known how to take care of myself as I do nor would I be the person I am today.

Favorite Comments, Stories and Quotes for and from Children

I would like to start by talking about a quote from one of my students. She wrote me a note one day during class. It said: Dear Mrs.Howard, I love you and I want to thank you for helping me with my work. I want you to know that you are my butterfly. It really touched me because she took the time to recognize me because I took the time to make sure that her needs was meet. My favorite children's book is the Little Engine that Could because it symbolizes how we as teachers should stay commited to our students when they want to give up and also should show students if they don't give up anything is possible. When you see the smile on a child's face when they learn how to read their first sentence, get a math problem right, or just need to listen to what they have to say, that makes me feel a since of accomplishment because sometimes we are all these children have to depend on. It should fuel your passion for children because you have made a differences in their lives. Sometimes all they want in just a hug or for you to tell them that you love them. So many times we take these children for granted because we feel that they should have gotten what they need at home but when a child comes to class hungry or say they have been up all night because their parents were fighting then you know that your job maybe a little hard that day but we as teachers have to that rock to help them to make through that day.
